Revelation 12

Bible Knowledge Commentary for Chapter 12:

Though the seventh trumpet was recorded in Rev_11:15 as sounding, the details of what will come out of the seventh trumpet are not revealed until Rev_16:1-21. Accordingly chapters 12-15 view the prophecies of the end time from another perspective and introduce the great personages who are involved in the second half of the seven-year period.

Verses 1-17:

  • Who is involved in this chapter?
  • Compare the characteristics of the woman (by how she is described) with the characteristics of the dragon?
  • From what you read:
    • Who is the woman
    • Who is the male child
    • Who is the dragon
  • What is the dragon doing?
    • To the woman
    • To the male child
    • To the woman’s children
  • Can you draw a parallel with the dragon and Herod’s behavior at Jesus birth? Who seems to have controlled Herod?
  • What do we know about Michael from these passages?
    • Daniel 10:13,21
    • Daniel 12:1
    • What else do you learn about Michael from these passages?
    • What does this reveal about the character of God?
  • Verses 10-12: What does the loud voice say? Who needs to fear and who does not? – Why?
  • Verse 13 – can you see a motivation for the dragon in what he does? Who is he persecuting and why? Does this explain events around us and maybe even events that happen to you? How does this make you feel?
  • How was the woman protected – see Isaiah 40:31? Who protected her – was it her own doing? What does this reveal about the character of God?
  • Verse 17: Who is the dragon enraged with? Who does he seek and why? Does this explain the dragon’s motivation? Does this also explain what happens to us in our lives? How do you feel knowing this?
