Verses 1-12

• What (or who) is the star? Rev 1:20
• Who was given the key that opened the shaft of the bottomless pit? What does this mean to you?
• What came out of the bottomless pit? Consider another parallel with the plagues of Egypt…
• Now we see why God marked his chosen (Ezek. 9:4)
• What is different about this plague than the one in Egypt? Ex 10:12
• Symptoms of scorpion stings – tachacardia, hypertension, anxiety, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dizziness, chills, will not kill you.
• Imagine the suffering that would be necessary for verse 6 to come true
• The name of the angel: Abaddon 1. The destroyer, or angel of the bottomless pit; — the same as Apollyon and Asmodeus. 2. Hell; the bottomless pit.
• What does it mean to you that the angel of the bottomless pit was the king of over the scorpions?

Vereses 13-21

• Exodus 27:1-4, Ex 38:1-4 – What did the 4 horns and the altar before God represent?
• How many were in the army of the horsemen?
• What is extraordinary about both the scorpions and the horses?
• What is extraordinary about the riders of the horses?
• What did these evils produce – unlike the scorpions? Why would God allow suffering before death of 1/3 of man?
• Did the people understand what was happening to them? How can you tell?
• What specific examples of evil-doing were mentioned in verse 20 and 21?
