  • Who is doing the showing in these verses?
  • What similarity do you see in these verses to Genesis 2:9-10
  • What is different?
  • Why do you think there is no “Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil” in the New Jerusalem
  • What does it mean to have no curse? (See Genesis 3:14-19)

Verses 6-10

Conclusion and affirmation of the Book of Revelation

  • What about these words and this prophecy are mentioned in Verse 6?
  • What two meanings could be applied to “I come quickly?” Who is speaking?
  • What blessing is offered and under what condition in verse 7?
  • What does John do in response to what he saw and heard?
  • See Rev 19:10 – the second time that John bows down before Angel – how can you explain this?
  • What was the Anglel’s reponse to John’s worship?
  • What does this tell you about the attitudes of the angel.
  • Could this be also attributed to Jesus saying don’t worship me?
  • What does the additional instruction of the angel to John 22:10 mean to you?

Verses 11-21

  • How do you interpret Verse 11?
  • Verse 12 – Again, Jesus is coming quickly but this time he describes what is with him. Is this something he will bring later, or had brought in the past? (Isaiah 40:10)
  • Verse 13 – Again, Jesus empasizes who He is. How does this address Jesus character and make it particularly relevant for this section of the Bible? (Isaiah 41:4, 44:6, 48:12))
  • What is the reward and what is the requirement for that reward in Verse 14.
  • Who is outside the city? Compare the criteria in 21:8 with this verse. What is different? Do you think that dogs will be kept outside the city? (Php 3:2)
  • Verse 16 – Jesus introduces himself again – what relevance does this introduction have to this section of the book of Revelation?
  • Verse 16 – What is the testimony for? How does this apply to your life?
  • Verse 17 – Think about this verse. What better way to close the book on revelation of truth than with an alter call? What does this say to you about the character of Jesus?
  • What warning is offered to those who hear this book? Consider this warning in the context of Verse 17. What does this reveal about the nature of Jesus?
  • What is left to the saints (or to all)? What does this mean to you?
