When was it written?

Bible Knowledge Commentary:

  • The epistle can hardly be later than about a.d. 95 since it was known to Clement of Rome and quoted by him in 1 Clement. In addition it can scarcely be dated after a.d. 70, since there is no reference to the destruction of the Jewish temple in Jerusalem.
  • Barnes quotes multiple scholars who indicate it would be written about 63 a.d.
